Check for Current Audition Info

Q:  Are MTV auditions open to anyone?
A:  Yes. MTV allows and encourages everyone to audition. We are a family theatre and enjoy adding new people to our group.

Q:  Where can I find dates for auditions /run-thrus /performances for this year’s show schedule?
A:  Upcoming Shows lists the shows for the entire season with relevant dates.  If there are no dates, we may not have finalized our upcoming schedule. Check back often, we will post them when they are available.  The auditions coming up next can be found on the Auditions page.

Q:  Auditions for (insert musical here) are just around the corner. When will the audition information be posted?
A:  As soon as the audition information is available, it will be posted on the website. This may be just a few days before the audition or a few weeks before the audition.  Please continue to check our website and as soon as this information becomes available, we will post it. If you would like to receive information on upcoming auditions via email, please send  us an email with subject line “audition information please” and we will add you to our mailing list!

Q:  I am auditioning for one of the lead roles. Do I have to audition with the song for the general audition as well?
A:  This varies from show to show.  Be sure to read all the information on the auditions page.  Many times there are links to music and/or sides.   Check our website for specific audition information.   If you indicate on your audition registration that you are only interested in one role and you don’t get that role, you will not appear on the cast list.

Q:  When and where are auditions?
A:  Auditions will always be held at MTV theatre in Irvine. The audition dates are posted well in advance before the season begins, but the times and audition songs will not be posted until closer to the audition date.
Generally audition times run from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. – specifics will be posted on the website when available.

Q:  Are cast fees due at the time of the audition or can I make payments or pay later?
A:  Cast fees are due at time of audition. Fees are totally refundable until a posted date (usually 1 week after the first rehearsal) to let the cast member look at the script and rehearsal schedule after the cast list is posted. If the cast member drops the show by the posted date in writing, all cast fees paid are fully refunded. If cast member drops the show after posted date there are no refunds. On a case by case basis, payment plans may be an option.

Q:  What does the rehearsal schedule look like for most shows?
A:  We have rehearsals in the evening (week days) and typically we perform on Friday nights and weekends. The part you are cast in will determine how many rehearsals you have during the week.  We occasionally reserve some Saturday mornings for costuming or vocal rehearsals.

Q:  My son/daughter/grandchild is interested in theatre but is only “…”years old. Can he/she audition?
A:  If he/she is old enough to walk and sing, there is probably a part in the show. While there are occasionally shows that do not have parts for children and/or teens, usually there is some part for a child of any age.  Of course, the child must be able to stay on the stage and actually perform the role.  We are not a school, nor do we have attendants to watch children during rehearsals, so please take that into consideration.

Q:  Do you sell tickets online?
A:  Yes, click here to be taken to our online ticket center where you may choose the dates and seats you would like to purchase.  Groups of 15 or more to the same performance are eligible for a discount, email the theatre to arrange.
